2027 Global Artist Residency

April 30, 2026 – The Tokyo Academy of Instrumental Heritage Music (TAIHM) is pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Looman of the Philharmonia Orchestra in the U.K. has been chosen for the 2027 Global Artist Residency to study the shakuhachi for three months in Tokyo. Congratulations, Robert!

2026 International Kenjun Koto Competition

August 1, 2026 – The 33rd Kenjun Memorial International Koto Competition is now accepting applications for this year’s competition through August 31. The Tokyo Academy of Instrumental Heritage Music (TAIHM) serves as its international liaison office to accept non-Japanese applications and offers travel support for non-Japanese applicants from abroad selected for the final round held in mid-December in Japan.
